Recruiting Strategies That Can Potentially Improve Virtual Hiring

Updated: Mar 2, 2022

Many companies are moving towards hybrid or entirely remote; with this in mind, the recruiting and hiring process has also made its way online. Many HR professionals are adopting robust online recruiting strategies, considering they efficiently speed up the hiring process for remote or in-person jobs.

Here are some recruiting strategies that can potentially improve virtual hiring.

1. Mobile optimize job postings.

It is essential that career websites are mobile and user-friendly to maximize the number of applicants. If websites are difficult to navigate, applicants will look elsewhere during their application process.

In fact, according to Pew data, “54% of candidates applied to jobs from a mobile device. And that number will grow.”

Most recruitment is conducted through digital platforms, namely Linkedin. Therefore, the application process should be easy to access and simple to navigate.

2. Take advantage of video tools.

In order to attract young talent, recruiting professionals will need to implement a considerable amount of video tools in the hiring process. Especially since the pandemic, young professionals are accustomed to using zoom for all meeting purposes; therefore, they would be inclined to use it for an interview versus meeting the recruiter in person. Besides video calls, some examples of incorporating video require a video submission with an application or a video featuring a recruiter describing the job.

3. Establish a solid social media presence.

The younger generations who are slowly entering the new workforce or are new to the workforce, specifically Gen Z and Millennials, are heavily invested in social media.

Gen Zers “actually [prefer] YouTube, Instagram and Facebook to LinkedIn.”

Candidates want to imagine what their employee experience will potentially be like through the company's social media. Some examples of how companies can send candidates the right message are photos of the workplace and workplace events or video testimonials from other employees.
